Ben Franklin Press continues to receive its share of regional, national and
international awards for its exemplary work in the printing world. In 1997,
proprietors Dennis Franklin Patterson and Teri Ann Faychild traveled to
Chicago to receive the BENNY, the highly coveted and most prestigious
international printing award for the printing of the Fife Vineyards wine
label, designed by CF/Napa in Napa, California. In the world of print, this
award, coincidentally a small statuette of Benjamin Franklin, is regarded as
the equivalent of the Academy Awards Oscar.
In 1998 and 1999, Ben Franklin Press also received industry recognition with
several gold and silver awards for outstanding achievement for printed,
foiled, embossed and die cut projects, and the list keeps growing. Some
recent awards from the International Association of Printing House Craftsmen
are:
Napa Dan's Oops Cuvee - GOLD MEDAL 2001
Earlier this year, Ben Franklin Press once again captured the gold for a
pressure-sensitive wine label produced for Napa Dan's Oops Cuvee.
This stunning, pressure sensitive label represents the Napa Valley at its
glorious best. Designed by the industry-leading Napa design firm of CF/Napa,
production involved a total of 8 colors, including four-color process, 2
Pantone inks and special coatings. The intricate design also required
skillful embossing on the Kluge. As a finishing touch the label was die-cut
to flatter the overall design.
Acacia Winery Brandy Package - SILVER MEDAL 2001
Ben Franklin Press also won a silver award for the Chalone Wine Group's
Acacia Winery Brandy Package. This printing project, producing a Hang Tag and die-cut stamp
for the bottle, required several steps. After production was complete a
grommet was applied so that the Hang Tag could be attached to the beautiful
brandy bottle with a distinctive leather tie. The Hang Tag itself has no
litho, it does have 3 foils, embossing and protective coating. While the
folks on the Acacia's bottling line view the label assembley as a challenge, everyone agreed that the unique finished product was worth
the extra effort.
Van Asperen Wines Presentation Folder - SILVER MEDAL 2001
Another award presented to Ben Franklin Press was for this show-stopping
Presentation Folder produced using solid ink coverage and multilevel
embossing with gold foil.
